Apply to Become a Firefighter

Firefighters provide emergency response for fire suppression and offer support related to smoke detector installation and fire sprinkler system concerns. Firefighter applicants must hold a State of Missouri Paramedic license and Firefighter certification from the St. Louis County Fire Standards Commission.

All applicants must have passed the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and hold certifications for Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PTLS) certification (or Basic Cardiac Life Support certification). A high school diploma or GED is required, and applicants also must have graduated from the St. Louis County Fire Academy (or be nearing completion of courses at the Academy).
