Our Firefighters and paramedics dedicate their time to protecting the lives and property of the citizens of the Mid County Fire Protection District. Our first responders go through rigorous training in order to make sure they can perform to the standards required under the stressful situations they encounter. A Firefighter’s job is one of service and duty to the community they have sworn to protect.
Joining a Fire Department requires dedication to learning the art of providing care to the community in many different ways under different circumstances. Firefighters provide talks to children and adults on life safety, fire safety and the everyday life of a firefighter. They provide care to people when they are having their worst day or their loved one’s worst day. Firefighters are there to provide help in emergency situations when there is no one else who can.
The life of a firefighter can be extremely rewarding and exciting. Firefighters become part of a family that is there with them to share in life’s times.

Mid County Fire District hires the best qualified candidates for the job. We require all employees to have a current Missouri Paramedic License along with the St. Louis County Fire Academy.
Firefighters must be 21 years old at the time of hiring and hold the following certifications: High School Diploma or GED, Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT). Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and prefer Basic Trauma Life Support or Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support.
